Fashionista

Everyone always asks where do you buy your daughters clothes. Well here is the answer. I will be posting pictures of her outfits periodically and where you can find them! She is quiet a fashionista and loves loves loves skirts and dresses but can usually be talked into jeans or skinny jeans on P.E. day.

This great red sweater I bought at a consignment store (consignment stores are a great place to sell your old clothes and sometimes you can find some great clothes at a good price.) The tunic shirt used to be a dress from Old Navy (I keep all her dresses as long as they still fit in the arms and just make them into long shirts that look great with skinny jeans) And last her silver sparkle tom knock offs from Walmart. 

This purple outfit was a must have - the sweater, skirt, leggings, and shoes are from Target. I was really pushing it when I bought this last year because it is a size 5T and Brie happened to be 6 when I bought it and    now 7 in this picture. When things get too small and I can't seem to part with it I just have her long leggings be capri leggings and if you push up the sleeves on the sweater no one can tell that it is too short. The only thing not from Target is the white ruffle shirt from Old Navy. 

Rapunzel/Tangled Wig

My little girl decided to be Rapunzel/Tangled for Halloween this year. I contemplated buying or borrowing a wig but decided it would be more unique if I made my own wig! So I came up with a plan and got to work! Here are the steps so you can make your own Rapunzel/Tangled wig. 

(SORRY - I didn't take any pictures as I made it.)

Supplies:

Yellow Yarn

Purple Ribbon

Pink Flowers

Rubber bands

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

1) I cut the whole roll of yarn at 110 in long. This can get to be a bit tedious but I did it while 

catching up on DVR and the time went by faster.

2) Attach all the of the yarn with a rubber band. Now in order to braid it I found it easier to tie the rubber band end to my stair case banister or you could always ask for someone to hold that end for you. Before you begin braiding you will want to add one strand of purple ribbon down the length of the yarn. Now you can begin braiding - just make sure you keep the ribbon in one section while you braid. 

3) When your finished close off with a rubber band. Get your little princess and wrap one end of the braid around her head to form a crown. Once you have that measured you will add another rubber band where you need to attach to form a circle. Just thread it through and if done correctly you will have a perfect crown that fits perfectly to her head. 

4) Now we will add the finishing touches. You will want to tie another strand of ribbon up where the crown meets to hide the raw ends of yarn and at the bottom of the braid. Tie both of those into a bow. Now you will attach the flowers with hot glue. 

Voila you have made a one of a kind Rapunzel / Tangled wig!

*Tip it can be a bit heavy if so just hot glue a plastic comb on the inside of your your braid to secure it to head better.

Lindsie McDaniel received her winnings from our grand opening drawing.

She has a 5 year old girl and is expecting another baby girl in just a few weeks. So, I put together some fun and colorful pieces that work good together for both girls. Pink is always a staple in a girls wardrobe and lets face it - they look pretty darn cute in it as well. I'm also loving the color turquoise on little girls lately. I figured she would be pretty set on holiday colors so I aimed more with springtime colors.

Braided Back Pony

Start out with a part down her natural part line and then part down from there to her ear. With that section we are going to do a french braid. With this style I prefer an outer braid but your more than welcome to do a flat braid. Picture down below. 

 Make sure you braid all the way down that section of hair.

Move over to the other side and repeat. 

 Grab both braids and secure in the back with a rubber band. After secured you can then remove the rubber bands at the end of the braids and comb through.

Comb and gather all of the un-braided hair into a pony tail. Attach the braided section to the pony tail.

 Finish with a ribbon or flower and curl the ends.

Braided Side Pony

Welcome to MY RUFFLED SUNSHINE! My first post is a basic side pony but I love to add a few extras - like braids and little ponies. It turns a basic do into a fabulous    one. Here are a few tips - I always do my daughters hair in front of the TV, this keeps her happy and occupied while I work my magic. You will need a squirt bottle, fine tooth comb, and rubber bands (I  like the little ones). Lets get started!

Part her hair (her natural part line) and then start working on the smaller side. Take the comb and make a part down to her ear. Then with that section divide into two and make two little ponies. Pictured down below.

Part down another section behind the ear and divide into two. 

Take the bottom pony from the first section and add it to the top of the second section. Repeat with the other two little ponies. You will end up with an X.

Then braid the two sections and set aside. 

Repeat on the opposite side! 

She is a great helper. Here she is helping hold both sides of braids so I can comb and gather the rest of her hair into a side pony. Pictured below.

Finally add the four braids and your done.

Add a flower or ribbon and you've got a great new do!

Here's another great tip - if your using ribbon - string it through a rubber band and then add the rubber band to your pony - your ribbon will never slip or slide!
